For Grey & Black Phosphate:

Parts other than boosters, master cylinder covers, and valve brackets, must be free of paint or undercoating prior to you shipping them.  Suitable methods for removing paint and undercoating include stripping, glass beading and sandblasting as this promotes material adhesion for phosphate coatings.

For Silver , Gold, or Black:

Parts must be free of paint and undercoating prior to you shipping them.  Suitable method for removing these coatings is stripping.  You should avoid sandblasting parts that are to be plated silver, gold or black as this makes the surface rough and these finishes appear the best on a smooth surface.

Parts that are pitted, may be able to be polished to remove these pits, depending on the parts.  Parts that have been sandblasted, and shouldn't have been, may be polished also.  There is an extra charge to polish parts as this is not a normal step for these types of plating.  Phosphate plating will mask many imperfections in the metal such as pits and, as such, should never require polishing.

All parts will go into an acid bath prior to being plated to remove rust, grease, old plating, etc...

Any small springs that you can remove from your parts, should be removed prior to you shipping them as these will not be plated.  If in doubt, call or email first.

Parts other than boosters that arrive with paint or undercoating may be subject to extra charges to remove those coatings.

Brake Boosters:  I will strip boosters, master cylinder covers, and valve brackets as part of a normal restoration.  You should be aware that this is done as time permits.  This means if your booster  arrives with paint on it, there may be an increase it the turn around time for those items.  To avoid additional time here, strip those parts with paint stripper, steel wool and rubber gloves.  If possible, avoid glass beading as this hinder my ability to make an accurate assessment of the surface condition of those parts.

Please do not remove front push rods from your booster.  These are required to restore your unit.
